Altronians were a sapient species inhabiting the island of Altronia.
Biography[]
Shortly after the successful departure of the Great Spirit Robot from Spherus Magna, Mata Nui became somewhat overeager with the creation of new species to serve additional functions, resulting in the plethora of different species that would come to inhabit the Matoran Universe. The Altronian species was one such creation.
Initially created with the intention of serving as dedicated healers and village elders, the Altronians based upon genetic designs for the Turaga sub-species. Although they remained incapable of accessing Elemental Powers, the species was afforded Fusion capabilities. Unlike their Arbiter predecessors traveling the Matoran Universe searching for key settlements needing moral guidance, the Altronians population remained on their homeland.
During the reign of the Barraki and the League of Six Kingdoms, the Altronians were one of the many races conquered by the warlord known as Mantax. Believing the League of Six Kingdoms to truthfully represent the will of Mata Nui, the Altronians eventually came to willingly serve Mantax's army by supplying raw materials and placing two members of the species in the Barraki's strategic council. Generally, the species remained cooperative until the notorious defeat of the League of Six Kingdoms in battle with the Brotherhood of Makuta and Toa forces. With the island forcibly liberated from Barraki rule, the Altronians swiftly cut all ties with Mantax's regime, though their involvement became a sore topic in the eyes of many of the other Matoran Universe inhabitants, estranging them from the larger Matoran species and temporarily earning them the resentment of the Intellians.
Over the long history of the Great Spirit Robot's voyage, many travelers would journey to Altronia in search of council from the natives, known across the Southern Matoran Universe for their insight and wisdom.
Abilities and Traits[]
Altronians were generally wise beings with knowledge of the Matoran Universe's inner workings. Based upon the Turaga design schematics, the species was somewhat more resilient than the average Turaga, though it was prone to similar fatigue and frailty.
Although lacking Elemental Powers, Altronians curiously sport elementally-specific armor coloring and have the concentration necessary to activate and use Great Kanohi. Furthermore, using their natural Fusion capabilities as their primary means of defense, any group of three Altronians are also able to form a Kaita roughly the size of a Toa. This merged form possesses increased strength and agility. Presently, Zakalonn is the only know Altronian fusion to have been formed.
