The Echo Shield is a defensive weapon used by Toa Sonitous. The Shield is semi-sentient, and when Sonitous wills it to, it can absorb the sound waves around it and focus them at a specific target at a determinable pitch and velocity. The louder the sound, more it can be enhanced into on offensive sound blast. Effectively, it reflects any sounds in the surrounding environment and channels them onto a specific target.
The Echo Shield can be used as a heavy-melee weapon and can also be compressed slightly to be more easily stored. Unlike most Toa tools, the shield does not seem capable of channeling Sonitous' elemental power of Sonics.

- Chicken Bond originally decided to give Sonitous a shield as his Toa tool out of desire to differentiate him from other Toa. He also wanted to make him a more unique character to write about in fight scenes by placing his focus on defensive combat.
