In case anybody hasn't noticed, the main page is seriously out of date, at least two months in certain categories. However, I have an idea that could solve this problem. Rather than having the admins update the main page, we could elect a team of frequent contributors who could do the updating every 2-3 weeks.

At TDG: Don't lock this. It's a problem that needs to be fixed, as I highly doubt anyone likes our out-of-date mainpage. This idea would easily solve the slow-updating that our main page (which is the first page new users would see, I might add). ---Deus Vult! 21:51, June 14, 2012 (UTC)
I'm not sure what to vote. On one hand, it's efficient, on the other hand, it also decreases the level of security on the main page. I suppose the admins could lock and unlock it every time it's time to update. However, I think if the admins could get more active, they could still get the job done (I'm going to start a vote for some more admins soon after a discussion with the BoT). I'll just stay neutral on the subject for the moment.

Do we really need that much security? There really are not very many vandalization instances, and it isn't really that hard to revert bad-faith edits. I think we should lift the protection where it isn't really needed. -Therapist
