The Mask of Ultimate Power, also known as the Forbidden Mask is a Legendary Mask of Power which embodies the six Elemental Powers.
History[]
Thousands of years ago, the Mask Makers Makuta and Ekimu created Masks of Power for the peoples of Okoto. Ekimu's were more prized than Makuta's which created despair and jealousy to fester in Makuta's heart. He began trying to create masks of multiple elements, against a sacred law. The success of this was the Mask of Ultimate Power. He brought it to the Festival of Masks to show it to the assembled.
However, when he put it on, it took control over him and the raw elemental energy began to destroy the island. Ekimu arrived and realized what was happening and knocked the Mask from his brother's face. This caused a shockwave that both changed the island forever and created a tear in the fabric of space-time into the Shadow Realm and drew both Makuta and the entire city into it.

The Mask had split into six fragments and it, along with the Mask of Creation and the Mask of Control, were scattered across the island, waiting for a time when someone, could come looking for them.
After many centuries of stability and following the arrival of the Elemental Masters upon the island, Makuta gained the ability to project himself across the dimensional plane and gain the allegiance of Umarak. Charging the near-mythical huntsman with retrieving his Mask of Control from its prison, Makuta set in motion a chain of events that would restore the Mask of Ultimate Power and establish a portal to the Shadow Realm.
Successfully retrieving his quarry, Umarak conjured an army of Elemental Beasts, borne from a combination of corrupted Elemental Crystals. Unleashing his thralls upon the City of the Mask Makers, Umarak was able to successfully retrieve all six fragments of the Mask of Ultimate Power with little resistance. From there he journeyed to the Dark Crater to unleash Makuta upon Okoto.

- The Mask of Ultimate Power is the only Legendary Mask of Power that has not been released in set form due to BIONICLE being canceled prematurely.
- The website Shapeways does have multiple 3D-Printed models for purchase, however.
- It is believed that the Mask of the Ultimate Power, much like its sibling, the Mask of the Unnatural Union, answers to one of the four original Okotan masks and the origin of evil in the universe: the Pandora, Mask of the Knowledge of Good and Evil. While the Pandora cannot be destroyed, its servants can, however. With the destruction of the Mask of Ultimate Power and the Mask of the Unnatural Union, Okoto would be free for the first time in a few thousand years of the Pandora's tyranny.
